This is an exchange piece with the wonderful ~wolfraven who I met on DeviantArt just a while ago. She is an adult yaoi lover (53!!) and enjoys various anime and other graphic novels. She makes beautiful artwork as well, go check her out!
I'm totally amazed by her vast knowledge and her beautiful ways of describing things! I'm not sure yet what she is making for me in excange, it's a surprise. Just like this is a surprise for her!
Also, since Gojyo wasn't likely to blush, I gave him some extra surprise-thingies, he's like... wtf! XD
Here you see Goku presenting some freshly picked flowers to Gojyo. I hope I got the idea right....! This is one of the first times I have tried to draw in the style of Saiyuki, and it's difficult!
Excuse me while I run around in fangirl glee. Hehehh... this is wonderful and I adore Gojyo's expression. You are right, blushing doesn't seem to be in the crystal ball for the kappa but that surprise is wonderfully genuine. I also love Goku's expression, although I can't make up my mind whether Goku has decided to genuinely pursue Gojyo as an alternative, is just trying to make Sanzou jealous or is pranking Gojyo big time.
I like the blended costumes too, just enough to be reminiscent of their Gensoumaden Saiyuki wear and yet casual enough that they are most likely off the road somewhere.
Lovely job on the highlighting of the hair, and the shading on the faces and torsos is wonderful. The blue tones add a nice emotive touch. Nice, nice job on the packaging of the jeans.
Thanks so much for that wonderful comment, you really picked out what I was trying to go for. As for Goku's expression, I found it tough because although he's often hyper, he's rarely soft in emotion. However, I think what he does is genuine, so he would have a straightforward look about it. But then, cheeky as always. Gojyo's about to say "....stupid monkey!"
The costumes is due to two reasons: for some reason I have no idea where my Saiyuki pictures went, so I surfed and tried to get at least some of the details right so it would seem like their garments, just casual. Also I wanted to show a little more skin than in original art.... and Gojyo is so lovely to stylize!
I'm glad you like it! >^^< Looking forward to seeing the other one, censored or not >
